Hannah Highland

March 10, 2021 by School of Communication Studies

My name is Hannah Highland. I am from Spring Hill, Tennessee. I am a senior Communication Studies major with two minors. I am minoring in Journalism and Electronic Media, as well as Cinema Studies.

As one can see from my chosen areas of study, I love all things media. During my time here at The University of Tennessee, I had the opportunity to learn real world skills that were applicable to the jobs I wished to pursue. I was taking classes such as multimedia writing and video production in the school of communications as part of my curriculum. Not only was I able to learn a lot in the classroom, I was also able to get real world experience working in the Communications field from student organizations. I had the opportunity to contribute to The Daily Beacon for a semester and experience what it was like working on a newspaper. After that, I was able to get experience in video production, through being a part of the Volunteer Channel. My hands-on experiences through UT allowed me to get an internship in media marketing, where I was able to work to promote the launch of a new iPhone app.

My four years at the University of Tennessee has been super fun, and I am so grateful for all that I have learned here. Over the past four years, I have learned all that I can about all things news, media, and communication, but now I have decided to go in a different direction. I love school, so I have chosen to continue my education and go to law school. I am still in the process of deciding between schools at this point in time, but I am very excited about where the future will take me.
