The Communication Studies Department at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, holds two public speaking contests every semester:
- The Charles McClung Public Speaking Contest, which selects a handful of students from a pool of 900 taking beginning communication classes to perform their informative speeches on stage.
- Smokey Talks, which selects students from business communication classes to perform their speeches in a TED-Talk-style studio setting.
In both contests, students compete for prizes. Follow the links above for archives of past winners and finalists.
